Adopt a Pet, save a stray

Both my cats are strays which I took into my home over five years ago. Why am I telling you this. Well because in my life I have never bought a pet. I have never gone to a pet store and said the magical words, “How much is that puppy in the window.” And while I may not agree with many animal rights groups on where our food comes from, yes this includes vegans, vegetarians, etc. When it comes to pets my view is different.

You may be thinking why is that? Or, How can you differentiate? Well that is easy for me while it may not be for others. Food is food and I will always place the value of humans above everything else. Call me what you will but I just think that the human race should survive above everything else and I will not be pushing for bears to get the vote, which will make Homer Simpson very happy. Well I think it was homer who was afraid of bears getting the right to vote.

But pets, Pets I see as different because you are taking them into your home. You are accepting them into your family and due to the carelessness of some people who did not spay or neuter and others who knew they could not handle the responsibility but still got a pet only to abandon them later. Pet stores and pet mills are just wrong in the sense that the stress and trauma that a pet has will adversely affect it when you try and incorporate it into your family.

I am still trying to figure out how to give my cat Linux a bath as he has been severely traumatized with water before I got him. I don’t know why or how but he has and well I am trying to figure out if I could build something to ease him into the idea that baths are not dangerous. WIndows on the other hand loves baths. So they are opposites of the coin as to why I named one Windows (ease to use) and Linux (adventurous and well if you get the bleeding age release a pain to deal with.)

I leave you with the link to the Human society on the top five reasons to adopt rather than buy.

    1. Thank you very much. They have their own book, it’s on my book page of my blog. My wife drew the pictures, I wrote the story. It is about how they accepted us as their family.
