The problem with the Sentence

A couple of days ago I thought I saw something strange. But then I was completely not in my head due to being sick. I am talking barely can breathe, mack truck parked on my head sick.
But after I started getting better I revisited it and was surprised.  Here was a person talking on the importance of a sentence.  The idea that they went to a writing course and put up with the teacher stating how you must write, rewrite, and then do it all again in order to get that perfect sentence.
There was also the idea that so much effort must be put into a single sentence in order to be a writer. Now I am not calling this complete bullshit, but in a sense it is mostly bullshit. I would say a good 89% no 95% bullshit. Yes a good 95% bullshit.

The reason for my stating it so is simple. If you spend so much of your writing time focused on a single sentence trying to get it do right, then you will never write anything. Writing a novel and finishing it requires that you write the story, get the story right. If a single sentence is able to hold you up from writing the story then you are missing the forest for the trees.

Yes a good sentence is hard to come by, but a great story can be prevented in pursuit of that perfect prepositional phrase, comma or even that hyphen which would cause the right amount of time to pass in the readers mind.

Don’t fall into the writers block trap of caring about a single sentence when your whole story is what matters. A single sentence, a solitary word can be fixed in the re-write post editing.

I asked the wrong question with Give me a Death

Here is the right question:

Character 30’s early, lovelorn

How would you kill her, where the circumstances are suicide but not, murder but not, carelessness but not, ? That is the question and there lies the wrinkle.

Give me a death

I am contemplating a death of a character and what I was thinking was chronic anemia as the medicine for it can cause coma or death if there is a slight overdose,

Help me kill a character. Tell me what disease is silent, easily missed, and can cause death if left untreated. I do not not mean death in years more like death in a matter of six months to a year.

9 Authors who break boundaries.

I commented on this story. An interesting comment which is as follows. The link to the story is at the bottom.
I must say that I expected something completely different when I read the title of this article. I half expected the race and gay angle, which I did not mind but there was also the curiosity to that point that they were breaking ground in writing style, or at least in narrative style.
I do thank you as a bisexual male myself for bringing light to authors who are not your typical white author. But that is not, and or should not be the only reason for choosing authors to talk about. Yes these authors do hold the awards to warrant them to be good. But at times I wish that unknown authors such as myself would get some part of the limelight, if it is only a reflection from the greats.
I often wonder just how many great authors go unnoticed just because we do not win awards do to finding them to late or two restrictive to our works, but that in the end is the way the ball bounces.
Great post all the same.

9 Authors Who Break Boundaries with Indie Lit

I know I need to but…

Hey everyone. I know that helping my blog grow will help me with my book and hopefully will help with sales, but

As I worked hard to promote others so that I could start to grow and I have seen growth, my writing has suffered, when before I was cranking a chapter and a half to two chapters a week. It has turned to a chapter in two weeks and a half.

So how does this concern you? Well I would like guest bloggers and or some reblogs of my post to make it worth it. Now I know that many of you will just skip this post and or read it and that will be the end of it. But some of you will see my request as not so bad and will help out.

No, I will not stop blogging but I will slow down a bit in order to finish the books that I have lined up waiting to be written. I hope you all understand and will pitch in. If you want to leave that is cool as well. I will still be here.

I see you there talking

you speak loud so all can hear

yet when it is my turn to speak

you quietly disappear

how dare you ignore me

how dare you shun me

how dare you use the words I write

you do this all in spite

in spite of the friendship that could be built

bury that knife of neglect to the hilt

my heart can take it

but soon enough another will read me, will share me

soon enough another will give me wind and you will see

that while you passed me over and did not share me

I was still able to be free

And at that time I will leave you

I tell you know so you will know

It was not for what I did not read but what you did not show

What it takes

In an attempt to not be the spam blogger but also find a balance with what I share the line has become very clear. So here I am sharing with you what it takes to get a rise out of me. What you need to have in order for me to like something, reblog something, comment on something.

Liking something.
I find it fun to like things. Even things that I know bother me but the fact that someone put it up and caused my brain to think about it, no matter how much I hate it or love it. I will like it. Posts that make me think are fun to run into. But that is as far as I will go. I will like it because it made me think.

Commenting on something

I comment on things when I feel strongly about the topic. When I want to bring attention to something or when I feel that there has been a violation. It does not matter to me that I may offend, insult, or basically make someone cry. I could care less. I am commenting my opinion and my thoughts from the research that I have done throughout my life. I do not apologize for what anyone else thinks about the words that I type. I work with words daily, in my writing, in my teaching, in my life. Which is why looking back through my posts I tell people to read, reread, and then read again to what I stated, as to often than not the misunderstanding is that the individual did not read or did not comprehend my words.  But back to the topic at hand. I comment on things that draw me in. And no, it does not have to be words. Pictures, video, heck even a good title has gotten me to read it and make a comment.

Reblogging

I reblog friends that talk to me. That means if we interact with comments the more that I will reblog you. I do not reblog everything as there would be not much time for my own posts to get noticed. I do reblog others more than some but this is due to the fact that some people post more blogs and make a larger signal. But still there must be that line of communication for me to reblog. If we have talked if we have even crossed paths on a post somewhere and started to follow the chances are I will reblog your stuff. Talking helps folks.

Do I expect you to reblog me. I would like it, to that extent I will not lie. But no it is not an expectation. Still the more I reblog someone I do hope they take notice of it and decide that some of my works deserve the notice to be reblogged, commented on and liked. On an interesting topic, my words are mine and if I insult you, treat you like crap, or all in all tell you to fuck off, it is not the responsibility of the post hoster, if I am doing a guest post, or mine. Should you know me then you would understand that I do not insult, treat people like crap, or tell people to fuck off unless they deserve it. And nothing is more deserving than talking BS, trying to tell me or anyone else to change the way they behave because it offends your sensibilities.
When it comes to comments on faith, spirituality, religious matters, I default to my atheistic position. Bring me proof, verifiable, falsifiable, and testable by anyone, anywhere in the world.

When it comes to science, medicine, engineering, theoretical or not, bring me recent published papers from peer reviewed magazines.

If it is just a discussion you want then that is fine. And the final note, just because I do not agree with you is not the reason that I may insult you. Agreement or disagreement on a topic is not enough. So think clearly and post clearly. It is the only way we can keep blogs from degrading to the twitter world where everyone just starts spamming and following for the simple fact of getting more views.

Getting followers is nice but if you have 10000 followers but only 10 views per day, then there is something wrong.
